As you've probably noticed, I travel a fair bit. I own three suitcases in different sizes that I use for weekend trips, week-long trips in Europe and long haul travel back home to Australia. My medium suitcase was a cheap and nasty purchase that I bought a few years ago when I had a last minute business trip, so I'm really keen to replace it.
High on my list is a Mulberry suitcase in black scotch-grain leather as it's timeless, and doesn't look like the type of suitcase that I would imagine to be stolen at the luggage terminal (it has no flashy logos etc). I would like to think that nothing would ever happen to it, but I have heard so many lost luggage stories over the past few years (I'm looking at you Heathrow).
What type of suitcase do you own? Do you go for an 'investment' suitcase that is made to last or something a little cheaper? NHG x
P.S I love Mango's spring 2011 look book by Terry Richardson featuring Globe-Trotter suitcases. If only I could look that stylish when travelling. My reality is all no make-up, leggings and ballet flats although I've been trying much harder lately.

Great suitcases. I tend to just buy Samsonite Lite range bags. I find bags only last a few long haul trips.

I have a DVF suitcase I got in TK Maxx years ago, although I've recently seen a lip print Lulu Guiness case I'd love to get in the hand luggage size.
ReplyDeleteI generally use two kinds of luggage: a big suitcase for long trips and the 'hand luggage' size trolley, which I tend to use more often because I'm always worried about air companies losing my luggage...To be honest, I'm not that picky with suitcase style. I like the simple and function Delsey/Samsonite trolleys and personally the key factor is “the lighter the better”. Then, of course, I indulge in a stylish cabas bag where I put essential (...) things like my costume jewelry...

In theory I want a good suitcase because I do travel quite a lot, and I currently switch between 3 different sized cases all from Debenham's Jasper COnran range, but its as you say - I don't want something that looks like what it is because people would be tempted to steal it. But then, having said that, I don't want to shell out a lot on a suitcase that then looks like the same old thing from the Debenhams luggage department that I've always used. LOVE those globe trotter ones deatured though!

I love fancy luggage but I'm always worried about it being stolen. I have an LV duffle but would never check it for that reason. Any bag I'm going to check, I keep basic. I recently bought a large bag for longer trips that is super lightweight (I think it's samsonite).
ReplyDeleteWe use TOTR Samonite hardcases that are simple, stylish and practical. I would love something more fancy but when they may get lost or damaged I don't see the point myself useless it was a carry on :)
ReplyDeleteI think I need a bit of help with luggage so it's good to see the photo inspiration here (although like you say, I never look as chic, my airport "outfit" is very similar to you!) I have lots of huge suitcase from moving London to NYC - nothing in between for a weekend away or a mini break, so I always look like I'm going for a year. The globe-trotter cases look quite perfect for my needs....
