There were certain brands that I just "didn't get" when I moved to London. One of them was Zara (I swear their collections have improved ten fold over the last few years), another was Whistles (who have since obviously re-branded thanks to Jane Shepherdson) and the third was COS.
To me COS was a brand that 'yummy mummies' and corporate women would wear to look simple and chic. I felt a lot of their shapes were also a bit too old for me.
But my opinion of the brand started to change after seeing it featured by fashion bloggers (mainly Scandinavian) who loved the brand for it's wardrobe staples. Considering my wardrobe was missing most of these staples, it's little wonder that I didn't know the joy of COS.
This year, I have bought so many pieces from the store including v-neck t-shirts, cotton jumpers and Breton style tops here and here. It's going to be my go-to store for AW11 as they are one of the only stores who actually sell pure wool at a decent price (not like Topshop with it's evil Angora blends) and they even feature hand knitted items such as scarfs, jumpers and dresses. Their AW11 collection is very Phoebe Philo for Celine, no?
Do you love COS? And should we start a campaign to get them a) on social media b) open an online store? I think we should... NHG x

An online store would be good!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally all over a campaign to get them online! Not that I don't live a ten minute train journey from a fairly large one but, you know, at 3 in the morning it's still not open! Totally agree with you on the Zara front - didn't understand it until pretty recently!
ReplyDeleteMuch Love

I actually work a whole 2 minute walk away from their store...but it's sooo much easier to shop online sometimes! De x
ReplyDeleteI love Cos, was so glad when they finally opened a store in Glasgow! Totally agree that it's v Celine next season!
ReplyDeleteIn the last year of living in London I became a big fan of COS. I have several COS dresses in my wardrobe now, both summer and winter designs. I am desperate for them to open an online store and I recently tweeted a question about this - The Guardian fashion editor got back to me and told me this would happen by the end of the year, so we need to watch this space! Do let me know if you hear about it before me, please!

Well that's exciting news! I kind of thought since H&M launched their site last year that a COS site wouldn't be too far away considering they are owned by the same company.
ReplyDeleteI love COS and I start buying this label the day it opened a store in Brussels. The quality of the (natural) material and the minimalistic cuts of the clothes are great. On the other hand, I don't get Zara. The design might be appealing, but the quality of their basics is really poor and I would ban the use of acrylics from fashion.
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog, so cute!
