French Pharmacy products seem to the be 'it' thing in cosmetics at the moment. I know I've long aligned all things beauty with the French, so it's only natural that we all want to get our hand on products that have traditionally only been available in France.
I'm not really a Gwyeneth Paltrow fan, but I did like her blog about staple French products that she buys when in France (or online in the US). A few days after I read the article I realised that my local pharmacy in Notting Hill, Baywood Chemist, stocks a HUGE amount of French pharmacy products including - Nuxe, La Roche Posay, Avene, RoC, Vichy, Caudalie, Clairns, Durance plus more.
I've been slowly replacing my products with French brands as I've run out over the past few weeks and below is what I've bought. I've highlighted the products I would buy again with an asterisk and would hands down say that my favourite brand so far is Nuxe - their multi-usage dry body oil is divine and the perfect product for summer!
Speaking of summer, I have been looking for a non-oily, light facial sunscreen since moving to the UK (the Nivea Light facial lotion that I used in Australia isn't available here) and my new La Roche-Posay lotion is absolutely perfect.
La Roche-Posay Lipid-Replenishing Body Milk*
La Roche-Posay Fluide Extreme 30SPF face sunscreen*
Nuxe travel set - 3 Roses Cleansing Water, Creme Fraiche 24 hour Moisture Emulsion*, Multi-Usage body oil*, Reve de Miel hand & nail creme* and body and bath gel.
Klorane dry shampoo with nettle*
Vichy dermablend foundation*
Caudalie Merlot Friction Scrub*
Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser
Avene Thermal Water (yet to use)
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm
RoC Sublime Energy eye cream (I was given this to try and it burnt my sensitive eyes)
You can buy Nuxe, Caudalie and Clarins on lookfantastic.com and feelunique.com.
Let me know if you have any good recommendations and a big thank you to Anne from Ritournelle who is always a great source of advice on all things French! NHG x

Aw you're very welcome De! I'm glad you are now converted to the fabulosity that are French pharmacy brands ;-)
ReplyDeleteOne French brand I'd like to try someday is Embryolisse. Gwyneth mentioned it in her blog and a lot of models and makeup artists use it.
That's next on my list Anne, I'm going to work my way through them! I've found a UK site that stocks it too :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Clarins Flash Balm as it is a great multi-tasking product and one they seem to give away as a sample quite a lot so I manage to get away with not paying for it. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not hugely impressed with it as it makes my skin a little too shiny. Definitely wouldn't pay for it again!
ReplyDeleteAhh how I love french skincare! I have a huge bottle of Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse which has little particles of shimmer and smells divine and my new favourite skincare is Avene, just brilliant for my dry skin. Must try that Klorane too, my local pharmacy stocks it! x
ReplyDeleteI have been a huge fan of La Roche Posay for years- my local CVS here in the states carries it, and my dermatologist recommended it for the sunblock. I need to try more Caudalie though- always here good things about it and I know Anne/Ritournelle is a huge fan.
ReplyDeleteI love Bioderma Crealine for removing eye make-up, I really want to try Klorane dry shampoo as I hated Batiste when I tried it!
ReplyDeleteRemind me when I come to Notting Hill to check out that pharmacy! I'm both a beauty junkie and a lover of all things French, so you can imagine how much I love French pharmacies ;)
ReplyDeleteBriony xx
I use Clarins beauty flash balm all the time, I love it and I find it very moisturising. Anne also introduced me to Caudalie - I'm currently trying some free products we were given in our gift bag after a spa event at The Plaza Hotel - I will report back!

Lovely blog. I too adore my French beauty products. I have been using Roche-Posay sunscreen for years and I swear by it. Hands down it's the best.
ReplyDeleteI ADORE Caudalie products. I can't live without the lip conditioner (it's the only thing that works for my dry lips), the Cleansing Water (for removing makeup and not irritating my eyes) and all of the lotions and creams.
I also like the Clarins nightcream.

ReplyDeleteHello Dearne ! congratulations for your blog, it’s wonderfull ! I incidentally discovered an amazing pharmacy with great, original products in the 6th district of Paris. The idea there is to buy less and consume better (organic cosmetic products, personal and accurate advice for those who do care about their health). It is a really good surprise to see something different from an impersonal creams & pills supermarket at last! And it feels good to see and test new products and not the the ones we’ve been using over and over gain, too! And oh! did I mention the staff? They’re the BEST!!! Maybe it’s time to start consuming differently, isn’t it girls? Go try the Pharmacie de l’Epoque, 47-49 rue du Four, 75006 Paris.
